French Commission on Mathematics Education

Welcome to the website of the CFEM, the French branch of the International Commission on Mathematics Education (ICMI), whose aim is to develop interactions between the actors involved in mathematics education at national and international level.
The CFEM acts as a meeting place for French organisations involved in the study, analysis and monitoring of mathematics education at national level. It meets regularly with political representatives from the Ministry of National Education to give its opinion on pressing issues related to mathematics education.


As a component of the ICMI, it participates in international studies and conferences and represents French research in mathematics education.
The CFEM is the French sub-commission of the ICMI and its president represents France. In this capacity, he or she participates every four years in the ICMI General Assembly, which is held before the ICME congress. It supports French participation in international studies organised by the ICMI and in the quadrennial ICME congresses, and represents French research in mathematics education.
